A Brazilian Stonehenge and a Baby Bird
yesterday’s newsletters was a story about a Brazilian Stonehenge:

According to the article, “The 127 blocks, some as high as 9 feet tall, are spaced at regular intervals around the hill, like a crown 100 feet in diameter. On the shortest day of the year -- Dec. 21 -- the shadow of one of the blocks, which is set at an angle, disappears. “Ah yes, winter solstice. Why should there be only one Stonehenge? I found the photograph interesting, and thought there was a similarity between the one standing rock, with the hole in it, to my little necklace rock, which was found in the Raccoon River with a hole in it. No, I did not say they are exactly the same…I am just supposed to notice similarities, and I happened to notice this story. The Raccoon River is in Iowa, we were at the Kuehn Conservation area, in the Raccoon River Valley.
I went through my Mosaic of Minor Miracles http://h20genius.spaces.msn.com/ and my H20Genius http://h2ogenius.spaces.msn.com/ journal pictures this morning to get one that was not in my computer, and I noticed that on the one titled winter solstice, it has a cartoon on it that say’s Today’s the Day! I also spotted my picture of a bunch of rocks called Stonehenge.Since I am on the subject of rocks…there is a photo I took of two things found on the (Madison) Ohio River’s bank, last year sometime. I found a piece of a child’s toy, purple plastic with a design in it of a sword in the stone, and the next thing I picked up was a rock, same shape, but it had a “face” which made me smile. Others might enjoy it as much as I do. I love finding what nature has put in place for me to find.
Speaking of finding things…again…that baby bird I took back out to the woods yesterday, after my beau found it in the shop, the cat having just brought it in…yep, it showed up again today, in cat’s mouth. I went outside at some point this morning, saw the two cats and dog sitting outside of the shop, and heard that little voice. I yelled to the animals and went to see what they were looking at. Sure enough, there was that little bird, sitting next to the big stone on which the two cats sat. They had not damaged him; they were just being entertained by his hopping about. Normally the cat toys with his catches prior to eating. This is the third time for this particular bird. Yesterday, when I picked him up in the shop, I asked what he was willing to do to live here? So, when I saw he was back, I grabbed the bird up, brought him in the house and stuck him in the bathroom sink. I went back outside to look for something to make a cage, got stung by something and when I came in to pull the stinger and apply first aid, saw the cat carrier in the bathroom. Cat carriers work for birds too. I placed a bowl of water in the cage, chopped up some lettuce and a soggy pear. He obviously was not at the self-feeding stage. So I mixed up some cat/dog food and banana, and he readily took a few straw tips of that.I managed to get an email off to someone who told me keeping a bird was illegal, and that I could try water soaked raisins and worms, and to see if I could get it to the Louisville Zoo. Somehow, I doubt they need another robin, and for me to drive an hour away, well…. So, if I get arrested for trying to save it, without having the proper certification, I will allow the arresting officer to watch it be eaten by the cats, and they can testify that it was better to do that . After three times in the cat’s mouth, my beau suggests it is supposed to be there. I really do not wish to keep this thing any longer than I have to. I can take it across the road to the woods the cat does not go in, but the mother won’t find it to feed it, so it’s chances are still slim. If I can let it rest 24 hours, albeit still with some stress, it may have a chance. I doubt the mother will be able to help it much as is anyway, with such mighty hunters in the midst.
Today’s collage is simple. It contains reference to a rock and a smiley face. It is above the text of this entry.
